Hello!
I hope you have had a great start to your week.
On Saturday 10th Feb we held our “Feeling the Feminine” day retreat. It was an intimate group of women who came together to practice yoga, meditation, listen to an incredible sound bath with Katie, journal, dance salsa and share experiences. It was really very special - it felt like such a safe and accepting place and I am grateful to the women for being vulnerable and having the courage to share their struggles, tears and worries.

Feeling the Feminine
This theme is close to my heart because I had no understanding of what feminine energy was until about 6 years ago when I met Emma Cannon. The reason I think it’s important to understand this is because many women are spending their days in their masculine for unhealthy reasons! (Including me for a very long time.)
The masculine energy likes to control, fix, be goal oriented, outcome focused, have a plan, be logical, be protective and moves with sharp clarity and focus. The feminine energy is softness, trust, letting go, forgiveness, emotion driven, creative, vulnerable, open, flexible, fluid, spontaneous and in flow. Ideally, we have a healthy balance of both - whether you are a man or woman it doesn’t matter!
However, unfortunately so many women have used their masculine energy as a shield to protect them, believing that to show a more feminine side is weakness. However, to embrace feminine energy (again either as a man or woman) is NOT weak. It is strength - because it’s in the softness that we can heal. Often the masculine energy is coming from a place of a lack of self-worth, with a sense of needing to prove yourself and validate yourself, which then this tips the balance into being unhealthy and causes a lot of suffering. So many of my clients have been through burn-out, chronic fatigue, struggles with fertility and autoimmune diseases where stress has been a huge factor.
Low self-worth, being in our masculine, trying to control and proving yourself all adds to this stress.
Ideally we need a balance of the masculine and feminine. But if we are really honest, how much do we really lean into the feminine as women?
Emotional Intelligence
Understanding and processing our emotions is a huge part of leaning into the feminine. Recently, I have had a few friends ask me: “Soph, what actually is emotional intelligence?” I think we all have a rough idea of what it is but not necessarily much knowledge on how we can bring this into our lives.
My recent blog explains more about how to deepen our emotional intelligence and why this is SO important!
